Lorien Whyte has dedicated her legal career to the practice of appellate law.  She is Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Civil Appellate Law.  Through her experience as a Staff Attorney at the Fourth Court of Appeals, she gained extensive knowledge and expertise in appeals and mandamus proceedings.  She served both as a Briefing Attorney to Former Chief Justice Sandee Bryan Marion and later as the Original Proceedings Staff Attorney to all seven justices.  As the original proceedings attorney, she gained extensive experience regarding mandamus proceedings and has presented on and written several articles regarding mandamus relief.

Throughout her career, Lorien has handled appeals in courts of appeals across the State of Texas and the Texas Supreme Court.  This includes permissive appeals, mandamus proceedings, and civil appeals.

Lorien also regularly helps trial attorneys navigate difficult legal issues.  She provides advanced litigation support via detailed research, preparation of briefing on complex legal issues, preparation and responses to motions for summary judgment, appellate trial support and preparation and argument of jury charges.

Lorien has been recognized as one of San Antonio’s Top Attorneys in 2020 and 2021 by San Antonio Magazine and recognized by Scene in S.A. as a Best S.A. Female Lawyer (Spring 2021) and as an Outstanding Woman in Law (2021).  She is also a fellow of both the San Antonio Bar Foundation and the Texas Bar Foundation.

She dedicates her extra time to her community as a member of the Board of Directors of Child Advocates of San Antonio and by serving on numerous committees of non-profit organizations across the City of San Antonio.
